Seven women soldiers, who pursued parachute training for the first time in the Air Force history, have passed out. (15/02/2008)
The event was organised at the Katunayake Air Force Base. They received training under the Air Force 14th parachute course for two months. In the meantime, 10 soldiers of the Air Force Regiment Special Force, two sailors of the Navy and five members of the Regiment Air Force also passed out after parachute training. A notable feature is the inclusion of a medical officer in this group. The passing out ceremony took place under the patronage of Air Force Commander Air Marshal Roshan Goonetilleke. These new pass outs will have the opportunity of rendering a service through parachutes during an emergency. 360 had so far successfully completed this training course at the Katunayake Air Base.
