Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurei Chandrakanthans Secretary and his driver have been shot dead. The shooting took place opposite the Steel Corporation at Oruwela on the Athurugiriya-Kaduwela Road this morning. Mr.Chandrakanthans Secretary R.M.Kumaraswammy Nanda Gopal alias Ragu and the driver D.M.Nazeer died. Mr.Chandrakanthan and M.L.A.M.Hisbullah arrived at the scene of the accident. Kaduwela District Judge M.Prasanna De Silva conducted the magisterial inquiry. The shooting took place when they were plying in a Volvo motor vehicle KH 3685. Seven ammunitions of 7.6 and 9.9 mm were recovered from the site. The Athurugiriya Police are pursuing inquiries on the instructions of SSP Nugegoda, Deshabandu Tennakoon.
